Hele au — Verb-First Sentences

Hawaiian sentences usually begin with the verb or description, then the subject.

• Hele au i ke kula. — I go to school.
• Heluhelu ʻo Kaleo. — Kaleo reads.

Sentence patterns are called pepeke. Later units cover each type in detail.
